Follow these instructions to order custom cuts for your lumber needs.

• Start by adding the desired lumber to your cart.
• You will then be taken to your cart. There, you will see the option to add accessories: 'X' for cross-cut or 'RIP' for rip-cut. Select which of these cuts you would like and add it to your cart. The quantity of cuts in your cart should be equal to the number of cut lumber you would like to order. For example, if you want to order three 2" x 2" Clear Mixed Grain Doug Fir S4S - 10' and have all 3 crosscut, then you must also add 3 crosscuts to your cart.

• A cross-cut is cut across the grain.
• A rip-cut is cut along the grain.
• Finally, specify your cut size in the comments section of your cart. Please specify which lumber you would like cut to which size.

The term "grade" refers to both the durability and the appearance of redwood lumber. Grades of redwood lumber are determined using criteria outlined by the Redwood Inspection Service (RIS). The grades help determine the best use for redwood based on its durability and appearance.

Heart Clear: Finest architectural heartwood grade currently available, normally kiln dried (also available unseasoned), well manufactured, and free of defects on one face (reverse face may have slight imperfections). Uses of Heart Clear redwood include siding, paneling, trim, cabinetry, molding, fascia, soffits, millwork. Also fine decks, hot tubs surrounds, furniture, garden structures, industrial storage and processing tanks.

Heart B: Quality heartwood grade containing limited knots and other characteristics not permitted in Heart Clear. Uses of Heart B redwood include siding, paneling, trim, fascia, molding and other architectural uses. Quality decking, timbers, garden structures and other outdoor applications on or near the soil.

B Grade: Quality grade containing sapwood, limited knots and other characteristics not permitted in Clear. Uses of B Grade redwood include siding, paneling, trim, fascia, molding and other architectural uses; quality decking, garden structures and other above-ground applications.

Construction Heart: A heartwood grade containing knots of varying sizes and other slight imperfections. Uses of Construction Heart include decks, posts, retaining walls, fences, garden structures, stairs or other outdoor uses, especially on or near soil.

Super Heart: A quality grade similar to Construction Heart. It contains knots of varying sizes and other slight imperfections.

Rough: A rough, unfinished surface absorbs more stain due to the increase in exposed wood fibers. This gives off a more rustic look. Rough lumber is ideal for projects where you want to add durability and longevity.

Smooth: A smooth surface means less open fibers, making the lumber less absorbent to staining. The smooth finish gives off a modern and sleek look. Smooth lumber is best used in areas that need to be cleaned, where there is less chance for spider webs and other outside debris to attach itself to.
